It all started with a dream 2 years ago when my son purchased some property northeast of Edmonton in the town of Smoky Lake, AB. I totally fell in love, mesmerized by the old buildings, tall grass and wild flowers, the location seemed to be timeless and oh so inspiring. I could sit for hours on end daydreaming of what life was like years ago, every door that creaks, every board that has weathered was carefully put into place by strong hard working hands. My excitement over time would only build and I knew that I wanted, no, that I had to put my vision to life.
After 2 years of dreaming, 3 months of coordination, 2 hours of set up and 5 hours of shooting, June 16, 2012 was a day I will always remember. Together with some awesome vendors, every detail was carefully selected or hand made. I was like a kid in the candy store and I could barely contain my excitement leading up to the day. Mother nature had threatened rain, I had no back up plan, nor did I want one! The day turned out to be beautiful.
I was sad when the shoot had finished, yet excited to see the photos, and as I went through each photo I fell in love all over again, I had created a timeless and continously inspiring reality and all of natures beauty is simply an accessory to a beautiful vintage country wedding.
I want to thank everyone who was involved in making this shoot possible, I enjoyed working with each and everyone of you and look forward to my next big dream shoot! Cheers!
